“I remember attending a weekend seminar at Cardiff University in 1984 as part of Women in Science and Engineering year. We stayed in Cardiff University halls of residence and visited a number of local engineering companies and had the opportunity to meet female graduate engineers. I specifically remember a talk on Civil Engineering (building bridges!) and a visit to telecommunications company Mitel.

At the time I must have been in my 4th or 5th year at school, so preparing to do my O'Levels and thinking about what I wanted to study at University. The weekend seminar heavily influenced me into wanting a career in telecommunications and choosing a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I am now a Programme Director for a Technology Services company running technology development and business change programmes."
