The gender pay gap
The 2nd of November is Equal Pay Day, a day of action led by the Fawcett Society to draw attention to the fact that on average women’s full time mean hourly pay is 16.4% less than men’s.
The 2nd of November symbolically marks the last pay cheque that women receive in a year, since compared with men they work on average for about two months a year without pay.
The UKRC supports the day of action, on behalf both of the women we work with and women in all occupations in the UK and beyond. We encourage women in SET and SET organisations to support the Fawcett day of action by engaging in some of the activities listed on the Fawcett web page www.fawcettsociety.org.uk.
