University of Chester: Diversity Festival 2012

These are just some of the rich and varied activities which make up the seventh annual Diversity Festival, open to all between 6th and 17th February 2012. There are screenings of foreign language films, workshops, awareness events, conferences and plenty of opportunity for debate.

 Highlights include:

  • An Inspirational Women conference open to female staff, students and visitors with high profile keynote speakers and interactive workshops
  • LGBT - Are we living equally? A full day event with high profile keynote speakers and engaging workshops looking at Gender and Sexuality in the 21st Century.
  • Keynote speeches from Sophia Warner an International Athlete who just happens to have Cerebral Palsy and  Stuart Boreham who holds the Distinction of being the first person in history to row an ocean single handed, unsupported and unassisted, with a physical disability.
  • Keynote Lecture: Novellist Professor Patricia Duncker on representing diversity in the Literary world.
  • The Anthony Walker Foundation on Offenders with learning Disabilities and Difficulties
  • Workshops on Marriage in Different Cultures, Racism in Schools, Sign Language, Life 'in the closet'
  • Law and positive about disability conferences
