Women in the media

Women in science, engineering and technology are under-represented on TV and in film. The UKRC is involved in a range of initiatives to boost the coverage of women in SET in all forms of media.

  • We help journalists find interesting and inspiring women and organisations to interview.
  • We offer occasional media training days for women in SET.
  • Our Ingenious Women project helped women engineers build communications skills and experience.
  • We have funded and work with PAWS to deliver activities that build links between TV and film media and women in SET.
  • We have commissioned research that explores the depiction and perception of SET women in the media.
  • We issue regular press releases to build the profile of individual women and raise awareness of the issues.
